Hephasestus (Jim)

14 year old (DOB: 2 November 2002), 17.1hh liver chestnut Irish Draught/TB (by Willie John, out of a TB mare) gelding.

Jim has three consistent paces (and a beautiful ground covering gallop), coupled with a kind and sensitive nature and a responsive contact (eggbutt snaffle and cavesson or hanoverian noseband only). He does not need to be ridden with spurs or a whip. He tries his best to please and is highly responsive to praise.

Jim is an extremely versatile and successful all-rounder. He is a Supreme Champion Saddle Horse and Paced and Mannered Saddle Horse, Champion Open Saddle Hunter, Champion Working Hunter and Champion Led Sporthorse. He has never come home without a wide ribbon. He has straight movement and clean legs.

Jim has been competing at Level Three dressage, with one Level Four start, and has established lateral work. He loves to jump (1.10m at home with ease) but he hasn't done much recently due to rider commitment to dressage. He is a previous winner of the national Irish Draught Horse Society of New Zealand ridden performance award and was runner up for the 2016/2017 season.

Jim is excellent to shoe (hot or cold), handle and clip, self loads and is lovely to hack out and about. He is excellent to bring back into work. I do not believe that he is suitable for a beginning hack rider or a 'hot' rider.

Jim is currently being brought back into light work (weekends only at this stage) after being out since mid February (due to rider injury which had nothing to do with him). I do not feel that he is suitable for a beginning hack rider or a 'hot' rider.

This is a genuine sale due to his rider being over-committed.
