Here is an opportunity to purchase a well schooled, capable horse currently on the way to Grand Prix showjumping or top level eventing.
Aorangi Legato has been carefully produced to Young Rider level, and he has the scope to compete at Grand Prix in a few years. He is a delight on the show jumping course, a calm and level headed ride. He is really showing his talent around the bigger 1.35m tracks. He is balanced enough to cut corners and jump on angles, and honest enough to help his rider out when needed! Legato loves his job and puts heart and soul into clearing the fences. He has wins and placings all the way up the heights.
While we have focused on show jumping, this horse has the brain, talent and trainability to excel in any discipline. We feel he is international eventer quality. He has evented to 105 level with placings, but is easily capable of stepping up to 1* now and 2* in the near future. An excellent cross country ride, brave but easily controllable. He has had plenty of schooling over 1* and 2* cross country fences in Taupo and is well experienced with any questions asked on course. This horse could have a big future in the highest levels of eventing.
His elegant jumping style and excellent bascule would make him a perfect high level showhunter.
He moves and carries himself like a warmblood, turning heads in the dressage arena. He is often mistaken for a warmblood despite being full blooded thoroughbred!
Legato is lovely to train, attentive and diligent in his work. Supple on both reins, he enjoys the challenges of lateral movements and flying changes in the dressage arena.
He is always a pleasure to ride. Awesome to take to the beach, hack out on busy roads, or go for a whirl bareback.
Excellent manners and easy to shoe, truck, float and worm. He is an ideal size of 16.1hh and has just turned 10 this year.
We would love to continue working with him to Grand Prix, but his 19 year old rider will be starting her overseas studies this year, and he has too much talent to wait in the paddock for three years.
